Lap Band Consultation
In meeting with a lap band specialist, an individual will consult and see if they qualify for the lap band criteria.
One of the most important items to be discussed will be the body mass index (BMI) of the individual. With the BMI, a lap band specialist can determine if a patient meets the Lap Band Qualifications. and can move to the next step.
The BMI will be used as a guideline of body fat based on height and weight. The mechanism for determining one’s BMI will be (weight in pounds) divided by (height in inches squared).
The BMI measurement group weights according to the following:
Healthy Weight: BMI between 19 and 25
Overweight: BMI between 25 and 30
Obese: BMI over 30
Severely (Morbidly) Obese: BMI is 40 or more
